Bagels n’ Grinds is a local restaurant in College Park, MD. The restaurant is has great new finishes on the interior yet lacks the same bright modern feel on their website. University of Maryland’s campus lies across from the restaurant, reflecting Bagel’s n’ Grind’s younger audience. I wanted to refresh the website by brightening their colors with a more electric orange and a complementary blue color, emulating a more “hip” vibe. I hand drew several illustrations to integrate on the site to nod to the fact that their bagels are handmade fresh daily. The illustrations also create a sense of playfulness to attract college students.

In terms of the actual content on the site, I wanted to ensure that all processes were streamlined. I cut down unnecessary tabs on the navigation bar and focused on what brings customers to their site- ordering food, finding directions and contact information. The homepage showcases a graphical view of each restaurant location and calls customers to action with a “order now” button. The about page highlights the restaurant’s instagram, again drawing in millennial social media interests. Lastly, I updated the menu page to create a more user-friendly layout. The old design incorporated a PDF of the menu making it difficult to read on many online applications.
