The Study
College Media Madness brought student-run newsrooms across the country together to see which outlet could raise the most money from March 15 through April 5, 2021. The project raised more than $96,000 from more than 1,000 individual donations, raising awareness and funds for the important work college newsrooms do for their communities.
This project was organized by The Daily Orange, the independent student news organization serving Syracuse University.
The Solution
As part of The Diamondback Marketing Team, I created graphics as well as video for across all social media platforms to promote our newsroom’s participation in the competition. My aim was to create engaging, playful content to encourage viewers to donate in support of The Diamondback. Due to our campaign efforts and marketing the success of University of Maryland’s men’s and women’s basketball teams, we were able to place 9th in the competition, raising $3,879.
