Working as a Vehicle Technology Directorate Research Intern
Proving Ground (APG) is a U.S. Army facility, and one of the most diversified military installations in the United States. APG is home to world innovative researchers and military operations.
During my internship in the Army Research Lab (ARL) under the Vehicle Technology Directorate, I implemented testing and research to contribute to U.S. army protection from enemies. Throughout the internship, I wrote documentation on my findings in the form of a formal lab report, poster and PowerPoint presentation. At the conclusion of this internship, I gave an oral presentation on my research in front of esteemed colleagues, personnel, and a panel of judges.
What I liked:
I really liked my project that I worked on for my research internship. It was exciting to experience the start of the research process as this project just started when I arrived on the campus. It was exciting to see the the results when they came back from experimental trials.
What I learned:
I learned that although I enjoyed my project, I wasn’t as passionate about engineering as I originally thought. I felt restricted being in a lab all day and longed to have a more social, creative and collaborative work environment.
Skills developed:
I developed the ability to write detailed technical research, convey complex information in a way that is easy to understand and further my public speaking experience.
