Working At The Diamondback
What I like:
As a Branding and Design Project Lead, I am given a lot of creative freedom when it comes to designing the layout of promotional materials. The Diamondback generally welcomes new ideas and encourages people to voice their opinions. I am fortunate enough that my marketing team is independent for we can dictate our own projects to effectively evaluate ways The Diamondback can improve. So far we have initiated an Instagram rebranding campaign as well as numerous fundraising campaigns.
What I have learned:
I have learned to be confident and decisive in my design capabilities. This is one of the more design focused positions that I have held. I have an artistic background but had never designed for brands before. When I became comfortable in my position and started to really voice my opinions I was welcomed with positive feedback from my team. This support empowered me and made me realize that my skills could greatly help the success of The Diamondback.
Skills developed:
Working for The Diamondback I have developed the skills to create a cohesive brand identity though branded graphics. I have also excelled my proficiency in Canva, Adobe Spark, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. Throughout my position I have developed the skills to effectively communicate across departments. Durning our proposition of the Instagram rebranding campaign, my team had to develop a thorough presentation to give to news and engagement managers. We had to present our information in a way that would be easily understood from team members in a different area of study and showcase the importance of marketing as well as brand presence across social media.
